Waterfront Cottage

Imagine staying here in this gorgeous waterfront cottage that is only accessible by boat & extends over the shoreline at the Pittwater in Sydney's Northern beaches. With fresh nautical & coastal vintage inspired interiors, it is a casual chic, peaceful haven dedicated to all things sea, sun and sailing. It's a fabulously decorated waterfront cottage called Tides Reach & when the owners Elizabeth & Joanne came to visit Coastal Vintage, I was thrilled to be able to provide a few vintage items for their renovation.  They have mixed old & new beautifully.  New cane crab pots used for lighting, custom painted old life ring above the doorway, an old pond yacht graces the window, and an old trunk is used as a coffee table.  They have a great collection of old school fishing creels to remind one of old fishing days gone by.  Old paddles & glass floats with fishing net decorate the landing. Decorating with Glass Buoys / Floats

There is something alluring about a glass float. So beautiful and round that has spent time in our oceans. When they escape nets floating in the ocean, they are like a mysterious message in a bottle that has been set adrift in the hope someone will find it years later. And, when they are found washed up ashore, one must wonder how long was it at sea & where did it come from? Here in Australia, we don't find many washed up on our shores as foreign fishing boats no longer fish in our waters like they did over 50-years ago.  These days, we find them from previous collectors or from our supplier in Japan who collects them from old fishermen who no longer use them.
